Summer Season 2011
It has been a very long intermission between blog posts and so much has gone down I would not want to bore you or myself with total recall.
Instead of the long version of events, a short summary will suffice.
11′ Season
The 2011 season here in Perth has been probably the worst in my four years of kiting here. We seem to have plenty of hot, sticky and humid conditions stealing our otherwise predictable summer seabreezes. This has meant I have been spending more time working on my design business over at 76 Creative Studio.
The unpredictable conditions has meant sessions have been more sporadic and you have to be ready to drop tools and get in the water when it switches on.
Gear
I have been riding with Xenon boards for a few months now and have found both the La Luz and Infra model to offer fantastic freestyle potential. I use the La Luz for straps and the Infra with a set of Liquid Force Synergy bindings which seems to be a healthy marriage.
I have been riding a 7, 10 and 12m quiver of North Vegas 2011 and I have really bonded well with this kite. The kite is awesome unhooked and offers plenty of boost, hang time and general all round fun. I have even been getting loose with some OLD SCHOOL board off action!
Riding
My goals where to step up my game this season and work on back mobes, KGBs, S Mobes etc. And I am starting to get my head around these tricks with a few successful landings with each. I have also come to terms with the fact that this new level of tricks offers a big step up in difficulty. I am confident with plenty more training and crashes I will get there.
I have more bruise, cuts and swollen body parts to attest to this new found difficulty but those as they say are the ‘breaks’.
Training
I have been getting into more cross training with a gym regime and reworked diet since the new year. Plenty of water and fresh food has definitely improved my over all fitness and general body feel. I think everyone should work on some sort of strength training as I am sure this has led to fewer injuries over all.
Frames
Ok enough talking below are a selection of frames from the season so far.
